GOOD MORNING, VIETNAM!!

The first e-mail that i receive today, this morning:

For u to understand the wise and profond proverb in the mail, first you have to observe this 4 pictures:

This is Reynaldo Gianechinni, a brazilian actor...  who is MARRIED to this woman, 20 years older than him:

They have been married for many years already, and this marriage is considered very "strange", as Marilia Gabriela is not the sort of considered er...  well, she is not what a man like HIM would choose if he could.  lol  (this is ppl opinions, lol) well..  now, look at these couple of pictures below:

And this... is... welll, u know already.  She Is daniela Cicarelli, the model who will be soon married to:

Well..  Now, I can tell you the newest proverb here in Brazil:

The proverb is:  (pay attention, cos it is really wise)

The masculine version of the proverb:

"It is better to be as awful as Ronaldo and "eats" Cicarelli, than being as handsome as Gianechinni and "eats" Marilia Gabriela".

Now...

The womens' version for the same proverb:

"Whats the point in being so beautiful, slim, young, and gorgeous as Cicarelli and have to "have sex" with Ronaldo,  It is far much better to have the same face as Marilia Gabriela and have sex with Gianechinni".

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

gOOd oNe ""

Just to have a wise thought before going to work.

Couldnt resist uploading this proverb.

Go GRRRRRRLS!!!  lol

Day in - day out

First of all two pics i took tonight, at 21hs, just before i started clearing some things away from my desk and took my way home.

This is me.
Whenever i dress beige trousers, i look about 3 kilos fatter, lol
Also, matching my beige trousers, there i am wearing a beige top.  And a large belt, to cover my belly buttom, which stays uncovered by the blouse and as i am at work, have to hide it.  hehe

To make it look more "serious", and "formal", i am wearing a beige pair of high heels. These high heels are made with the skin of goose.  Gosh, my mum didnt believe it and said that goozes dont have skin and started to laugh at me for being able to believe in such a nonsense.  But then i found articles about this and prooved that gooses have skin and my shoes were made by it.   hahaha  Not that it makes any difference in shoes (but it does have a different surface) but i liked very much the fact that I was buying a very particular pair of high heels, made by goose skin, lol

Whatever next.

And this is another pic of me, looking tired and willing to go home fast to eat some from Chris green beans. :)
Gosh. Look at my hair! I cant believe it that i spoke to ppl wearing a hair like that, lol
But gosh, oh boy, that was a warm day and night!! 34C for the second day.   And the weather forecast ppl say that it wont rain until the end of the next week.  Gosh.  I expect there will be a hurricane and a tsunami of rain when it finally comes the first showers.

My office was sooooooo hot during the day that i spent more time outside it than inside.  and the worst thing of all was that i had a list of 30 students to call and speak to them (students who are facing problems during the courses and also have been abcent for more than 2 classes) so, gosh...  if i tell you that i spent most of the day trying to call these 30 students but couldnt finish the calls would u believe it?  So, tomorrow, i will have to carry out.

Gosh. Im tired.

Im just finishing watching the late evening news program and then, i will try to sleep.

The news weer terrible tonight, gosh.  even the commentator was looking puzzled.

- Brigitte Bardot > her birthday, and also said that she is for the protection of animals but she is for the death penalty for human beings.  Also, she is against the muslims, the blacks, and any other minority in France. he said that in France she is very much hated, for her positions towards politics.  Gosh. I didnt know that.

- The Bank Strike.  We are having a bank strike - general, in São Paulo for more than 5 working days now.  The justice now is trying to sue the labor union saying that this strike is not being legal.  But a great confusion is still to come up.  Bank employees are asking for a salary raise.  And then, they are very united, so if one category, from one state bank joins, then, all the rest joins too.  So, I will have to wait til this strike is over so that i can pay the fee for my passport validation process.  Gosh.

- Rio problems of violence.  More and more Rio is becoming one of the most dangerous places ever for a person to go.  Today, tourists were attacked in the beach by black boys and got mugged.  Those scenes filmed by an amateur video cameraman (do u notice that there is ALWAYS a person filming things??) were the most terrible scenes i have ever seen in my life!!  The boys looked like bees, trying to get the pollen from a flower.  They pushed the woman down to the sand and in seconds there were about 20, 30 boys (numbers were told by the news commentator) trying to get her purse, and watch and necklace. And this scene was repeated twice and three times with other tourists.  Gosh!! We are all in a state of shock over here, and i know already what the "topic of the day discussion" at work tomorrow will be.  This politics towards Rio is so dirty.  The politicians in there, the governor and the mayor is destroying a city that is considered our "post card".  Cos, being honest, what do ppl know about Brazil?  They know about Rio de Janeiro.  About the naked women, and they have a slightly idea that the Amazon Rain forest is here.  ~São PAulo?  What is this?   I kknow that São PAulo is not known and of course it couldnt be known worldwide.  Cos what do we have here to offer?  Just business.  But one thing i can tell you:  I have been living in this city for 30 years now, and i have never heard of and seen such  scenes that I saw tonight on TV about Rio.   The drug dealers took over the city.  U cant walk anymore in Rio.  This is a pity.  Dad (who was born in Rio - yes, i do have "carioca" blood, lol) Says that in the 50's, 60's that was the best city ever to live in!  He tells me stories about Rio by the time he was young, and he liked very much to live in there.  It was safe, cleaned, exuberant, and most important:  a place where ppl used to live in a cheerful way.  Nowadays, they live terryfied.

-  A man who was killed inside the gym.  He belonged to the crime faction in where???  In Rio, of course.  Drug criminals, in an attempt of controlling a certain part of the city - interms of anything: they control 9the drug dealers) the time when ppl are supposed to be at home (they call it the "night reclusion time"), the ppl who get into the neighbourhood (police ppl CAN NOT enter the neighbourhoods controled by the drug dealers) they als have the control of pps speech:  if u live there u are under the law of silence.  U cant talk about the crime organization.

-  A police man who was killed inside a penitenciary.  in Rio.  (no more comments)

And then?  well. now i think the best i have to do is to go sleep and pray for the international papers NOT to publish those terrible scenes i watched tonight.  Cos i really feel ashamed of living in a country that hasnt got the power over the criminals, and bend over for drug dealers.  Rio is a Colombia.  And this is deep shameful.  What a shame to belong to this country, i feel tonight.  What a shame !!!!

Sunday.  12:39am.
Chris is sleeping for a long time ago.  It must be close to 4am in UK now.  Gosh. in 3 hours he is going to be up and ready for work.  And me, in the middle of my sleep.
There is a film on TV which is a co production of an Italian, French and Germany movie studio.  I dont care.
I have already talked to my mum on MSN and she says that my dad is still there, at her place, and he will return to são paulo tomorrow, monday.
I also talked to Sabrina, my brother ex- gf, and she told me some things that she is going through.  I like Sabrina a lot i do think that my brother should work his mind out and consider being her bf longer.  Being distant is not an excuse to my brother stop dating her.  She is a very nice girl.
Also talked to Ricardo, (skullptor) and he said he could find a job as a computer graphic designer here in São PAulo.  He is very happy and this is good.

Kika (cristina) also talked to me.  She is already back to sao paulo and said that she spent this weekend studying in Santos.  Bullshit.

She asked me about my life: "how are things going, Cris?" - she said.
I replied: "All is ok, but i do pray for the days go by fastly. each day that ends, i get happier."

She laughed and said: " and me!!"

Also, Felipe, a friend I have , got me in the msn and then we started to see the orkut communities together. hahaha  We found a community called: "I love quico". - Quico is a character of a mexican children tv proogram that is very famous over here, and quico is the funniest guy of all!! hahahah We laughed a lot reading the messages ppl wrote to his community!!!

Gosh, I laughed so much that my belly hurt!!!  Quico is the boy in coloured cap, on the right.  By his side is Chaves, the boy which the program is named after.

U may think it is silly, but you , yourself would laugh a lot if u had the chance to watch Chaves, lol

The episode i like the most is when SEu Madruga, one of the inhabitants of the village they all live, asks Quico to inform him whenever the tax collector approaches, so that he could hide and not pay the taxes.  And then, Seu MAdruga told Quico to shout, cry out, the sentence "The flying saucer is coming!!"  as the tax collector comes.  lol

You can imagine that the kids were playing in the pavement, and Seu Madruga was doing his things.  All of a sudden, Quico stands up and cries: "The flying saucer is coming!!!!!!!!!"  And all the other kids look up to the sky and Seu Madruga hides himself, gosh!!! This episode is the best ever!! hahahahahaha

But, the funny part is when the tax colelctor (Seu Barriga) is coming, and then, he realizes he forgot something behind and he decided to go back, and then, quico shouts: " The flying saucer is NOT coming!!!!!" hahahahahah  And Seu madruga, hidden in a corner, can not understand what is goind on.... he leaves his hidden place and goes to talk to Quico, to punish him, because he has mixed up the sentence and then, the tax collector appears again, lol

and quico, by the side of Seu madruga shouts in his ears: "The flying saucer is coming!!!!!!!!!" and then, again, all the kids and people on the street look up the sky and Seu madruga runs away!!

 hahahahahahaha

Gosh, just to remember this scene i start laughing again!!!  hahahahahaha

Seu madruga, the guy hidding , is the one in blue/purple cap, by his side, u see Seu Barriga, the tax collector, and then, Chaves, one of the boys.

Gosh

It is winding too much now!!!

mY god!!

the curtains of my living room were all waving, and i had to shut the windows.
It is too hot, so these winds, strong ones announces a heavy rain to come.

I went to the living room to shut the glass windows and gosh! it smelled "wet pavement" in the air.  You know that smell of rain?  gosh

Well.. that is it for tonight.

I will try to sleep as tomorrow (today) i have to wake up early and go to school to monitor some classes in the morning.

Bye and kisses...

and

watch out!!!

The flying saucer is coming!!!!!!!

hahahahaahahahha

Some More pictures.

Saturday.  13:30.
School closed.
I was preparing to leave.
That place on the corner is a restaurant.
Cloudy weather today.

Look how the panel ended up being painted! lol
These are all the kids drawings.

A close up of the Art.  lol

This is the blue flower i painted myself, lol
trust myself to paint a blue one,lol

These are the flower pots of the teachers.  remeber i told i would give them flower pots so that they could look after the flowers, water them and stuff?  So.. here they are. I have to write the names of the teachers again in the labels cos they (the writing) have faded away.

Another pic of them flower pots.
Spring made them even more beutiful!  On Wednesday, i got a bit stressed at work and then i got all the pots with me and went to the kitchen and started to cut old leaves, and change the land of it, and so i could relax a bit.

Flowers seen from another angle.  lol

Writing.

This is one of the things i most like doing.

Some people like watching, others prefer to read. I like writing.

Better than speaking, i think writing is a unique chance to make your words eternal.

Like this blog, for example. What is my objective in writing stuff, almost daily in here?

First: this is a chance i have to organize my writing material in a quick way. Better than writing and saving it to a floppydisk that i may take some time to open it and search for na exact piece of writing and may lose as life goes by.

Second: As i said before, making my own words eternal is useful cos i can follow up how my mind changes along the time and also how my opinions tend to change and i am also able to keep a record of the most important moments in my life.

Memories, thoughts, anger, happiness, anxiety, disappointments, tension, all emotions i feel are described in here, acoording to the happenings of a certain day.

Third: When i write my ideas down I have a chance to ponder over them. To analyse, to think about my actions and examine through my emotions. Many times i wanted to delete something i had written and i thought id better leave my words there. As a document. I have deleted 2 or 3 times texts that after i finished writing them, i read through it again, and decided to delete it. For one reason: I thought that i was writing too non-political texts, or, better, exposing my inner emotions too much in a way that could go against myself somehow.

So, to make my texts sound more real, without a filter, a censorship, i decided that i should not read them through again to correct mistakes and change sentences structures, i simply write and publish. But this is difficult. Sometimes i regret publishing my ideas, and wish i could break the rule of not deleting them and gosh, it is difficult to write ideas and publish them without the chance of editing them.

My mind works fast and many times i want to upload more than one text. As things go happening around me, with or without my interference, I go thinking about them, trying to make connections, theories, links to other subjects etc, and i wish i could have time enough to write all them down.

Sometimes my mind is so busy thinking about so many topics, many things around me, that it is hard to trace a line of thought. Some people call it dislexy. Dislexy is a kind of "problem" many people have in their minds, some cannot memorize things, others cant even write correctly. There are many sorts of dislexy, some are very relevant and people have to go under treatment to lessen its effects and other are lighter, I think i must have a "light" dislexy, or maybe it is just a question of slowing down the pace of my thoughts. But it is difficult.

Some people come to me and say: "Oh Cris, you seem to be so quick- thinking!" , Others come and say: "I dont know how u are able to make so many links among things." But i swear that It is not on purpose. It just happens. I care a lot about words, and expressions. While the person is there talking to me I go observing every single word the person says, and linking them to the body language and eyes expresions. I think I am able to tell whether a person is telling a lie or not when the person speaks to me.

I can capture "in the air" if the person is being sincere, if the person accepted what i said or not, and this is sometimes very annoying. Cos many times, in work circle, I know that the person doesnt like me, but the person is there, smiling at me, and being nice. And i know that the person is being false. So, i start to dislike the person, and as i cant fake feelings so easily, I , somehow, demonstrate it. I can show my dislike in rude words.

Yes, i consider myself being very rude. A co-worker said once: "cris you such a strong woman". But this is not a matter of strengh, but this has to do with rudeness.

Im dry. Im sarcastic. Im cold. Im bossy. Only because I talk sharply with my co-workers it doesnt mean that I am strong. People tend to confuse strengh with harshness.

Being na observer tuns me into a "dangerous" person for most of my co-workers. Yes.
When i started working at this new branch, I noticed in the second day in there that some of the teachers were cancelling classes w/o warning the secretaries. Then, one of the secretaries came to me and said: "Cris!!! How did u notice that? Has someone told you?" - I said: "No, no one has told me that. I simply observed teachers coming and going and swapping material between each other." But what does it have to do with the cancelling of students classes? Well, if they are swapping material it means that something has changed, and not in regular classes, cos they last until december, but it has to do with private tutoring. And, moreover, if there are plenty of material for all teachers work with, they would only change material in case they would need notes and steps writen int eh material for a certain student, so, it all makes me think that they are swapping students without the permission of the manager.

Ah!! A genious!!! Hahahaha What a silly remark and from one moment to the other i was considered a genious and very clever person, lol I think the secretaries are very dumb, cos im not a wise person, nor clever, nor even a genious. I just pay attention to things around me.

But, a problem comes: At the same time i go in trips inside my mind, and go

Escrito por Crissy às 16h49
[ ] [ envie esta mensagem ]

observing things, i get very distractive. I can easily distract my mind because of those quick links my mind makes.

I started to read a book, about the history of portuguese language (second time i read the same book) and i take ages to turn from one page to the other. Why? Because i find many interesting things, and i stop and think about them. Or, I make researches in the internet about them, or even get another book to get to know another author’s point of view about the same subject.

The dictionary is a pain to me. Everytime i need to use it, i spend more time looking at the words, and go from one page to another and most of the times i lose the line of thought and forget the word i was looking up. Lol If i find something more interesting just below or above the word i was looking up, i simply forget about that word and go deep in the other.

Etimology dictionaries are a "must have" ! So nice to go seeing the words and their origins, and funny to find out how they changed in time.
I got an etimology dictionary from my dad when i was about 17 years old (i still have it) and this is one of my favourite books in my shelves!!

But it is funny one thing: I dont like "fantasy" things. Like, the greek mithology. I think it is a waste of time to study those gods and stuff about extraordinary things and events. This is the same as if u asked me to study the knowledge and hidden mysteries in "The three little Pigs". I dont like it. I feel i am wasting my time. Lol I had a hard time at university when i was obliged to read the "Odissey", by Homero, telling the war of Troy. Bullshit. I had to swallow that book and I just passed the examinations because i cheated. I had a hard time understanding the genealogy among those gods and godesses and in my mind i was saying: Why do I need to know what god is the father of whom? In WHAT that will change my life and bring me more knowlegment? Gosh, I just hate greek mithology.

The roman mithology i like best cos It is related to Latin and also the most exciting thing i learned about it was the history of the names of weekdays in the languages. Lol But anyway. Damm it.

Another thing that caused many problems in my childhood was the religion thing. As i attended from the 1st up to 5th grade (from 6 to 11 years old) a Catholic School, with nuns and all that, they had a subject called "religion classes". A nun used to teach us things about Jesus and stuff. I could never understand those stories. And i hated them. Mum was many times called to talk to the sisters about me cos i was causing problems in the classes, cos – they said – I used to laugh when the nun was telling the story of the adam and eve and paradise, and hell, and heaven, and those things. I think it was my granny who put in my mind that all that was bullshit. My granny uesed to tell me that those stories were told to fool ignorant people. That there is no heaven or hell. This is to keep people controlled. I always trusted more my granny than them nuns. Lol

So, i was growing up in a atmosphere of Catholicism at school and a Catholicism Hate at home. My family never hung any crucifix or picture or statue at home and we never prayed or never talked about "sin" or stuff. But at school, the children were from very Roman catholic families. So u can imagine the confusion in my mind.

Also, dad used to say (and he still says that) that the Pope was a vagabond, cos he doesnt work, take money from people (the donations) and spoiled the world history, as the Catholicism was the responsible for the burning of lots of books on scientifical reseaches and killed many innocent people. So, when the sisters at school had celebrations for the priests and bishops and pope, I used to tell many unpleasant things to my little mates and of course, they would go and tell them nuns that i was making fun of them, cos the statue is meaningless and the priests are vagabonds. ( I was repeating the words i had listened at home)

And then, all the confusion was on. But NEVER mum or dad punished me for saying those things, cos they thought that i was innocent and was just repeating them. So, they decided to move me to another school. I went then, to a school called Galileu Galilei. The name of that scientist who was killed by the Catholics because he said that the earth was round. The school was very cool. At first i found strange they didnt say prayers at the begining of the classes or they didnt oblige children to confess the sins for a priest. But i was somehow, very relieved. Freed from those sisters.

No one in there talked about religion and all we did was to lead our lives studying the regular subjects and i was very glad i didnt have to listen to those stories of Jesus multiplying fish and making blind people turn healthy.

Well, there´s a lot more to talk about some beliefs i have and some i dont. I will try to jot them down as i feel like talking about them.
All i can say is that i never disrespect people for their beliefs in the same way i want to be respected about my disbelief on certain things.

And, I just talk about my beliefs and disbeliefs with people i care and feel comfortable about sharing points of view. So, if i dare talking about it with you it is because i trust you and also believe that i can be myself to you. Not a fake social person.

J

Hi there.

What a week, eh?

First a warm weather and dry cllimate that i bet u never felt in ur whole life! To give u na idea it was around 23hs last night it was 27C !! It hasnt been raining so it turns the climate dry and heavy. Many ppl are suffering from breathing diseases, irritation in the throat, and also allergy. Also, believe it or not, the flu!! A strong virus for the flu is in the air and gosh! Many ppl i nkow are knocked dow in their beds waiting for the virus to vanish. And, besides the weather, a very hectic week for me.
On Tuesday, the painting session and Fridays restaurant thing, and today a parental meeting. U may think: Gosh, Crissy, come on... Thats not too bad. But, u have NO idea of what it is like to prepare and face parents in a meeting. Parents think they are the "Mr and Mrs Wise" and believe me: they make such big mistakes in their kids education that u cant believe that!

Every parental meeting i choose a topic to speak about and in this first meeting, in this unit im working, i chose to speak about "Children Stress". Or, better: "Children under Stress".

Those poor Children are having a more busy agenda of appointments than a director of a multinational company. I am sure that even Bill Gates have a more light agenda.

Just take a look at the agenda of a kid, 9 years old, during a regular weekeday:

6:30 – wake up/ get up
7:30 – School starts.
12:30 – School finishes

14:00 – english course

16:00 – ballet (girls) – football (kids)

17:30 – Mathematics private course (most of the kids take spare course on Maths)
18:30 – get home

19:00 – dinner / homework time
21:00 – sleep.

And this, is by the ages from 8 up to 14, 15. Years old.

When they turn 16, 17, a new course is added to this routine: The course on preparation for The University examination.

Then, u can add 3 hours daily for 1 year, or 2 hours twice a week it the course is taken in 2 years.

Plus, long homework, given by sadic teachers.

Then.... what happens?? The kids (especially the children) Cant concentrate anymore in absolutely anything at all. They get distractive, rude, aggressive , and have crying crisis, phobias, etc etc... This all....because they dont have time to PLAY!!!!

Children need to PLAY!!!!

They need to have time to build up their maturity, develop social skills, and everything that is ONLY AVAILABLE IF THEY PLAY!!!! For Gods Sake!!!

Nowadays parents are much more anxious about giving their kids a fullfilled agenda than letting the kids to be kids.

Gosh.

Well, as I am not a kid anymore and i dont have my mum looking after my agenda, i will go to bed and tomorrow will work only 6 hours... hehehe

Bye.

ME AND MY IDEAS

Not only had i taken the teens to a restaurant this evening, but also I had a "marvellous" idea of having our external panel painted by the children this afternoon.
As we are approaching Spring time (Sept, 23rd), I had decided to let the kids paint a "welcome" panel for the spring time.  Gosh

So, while i was busy confirming the booking of the palces for them teens at the restaurant this evening, i was also watching children with paints and brushes on their hands, running, free, and happy around the school.  No need to tell you that i had a paint stain in my trousers (that WERE beige) and my hands got quite dirty.  But, we had some good laughs with them.

(now i know why teachers retire at an earlier time, lol)

Just take a look at the pics, lol

They look so amuzed!!lol  I wonder if they ever had the cahnce of spoiling their mums walls, lol

HAHAHAHA

Look at the Jap Kids,lol
doing some karate on the walls, lol

concentration...

little Jap concentrating....lol

Each one who arrived to class couldnt resist and painted a flower in the panel, lol

Hot weather today, 28º C.

Even the teacher Raul had a chance.  In fact, he was one of the first to try some sketches.

AN EVENING AT T.G.I. FRIDAY'S WITH 17 TEENAGERS.   LOL

OK, I survived.
We left school at 17:30 and returned at 20:30.   3 hours of screams, laughs, loud pitch chat and "Marcos!! get back to ur seat!!" , "João, dont spoil the napkins!!", "Jéssica! Stop popping the ballons!!!", "Kids, dont stand on the chairs!!"   -  lol

There are some pictures of all the mess i had to face this evening, and i really would appreciate to have a salary raise of 150%,lol

Girls at the main door of the restaurant.  At this point i was still ok,lool

This pic was taken from the windows of the restaurant.  This is São PAulo rush hour, lol
it was about 19hs.  People were all getting back to their homes.  While we were there, eating our burgers. lol

At this point they were still discussing about the menu.  Gosh.

One of the attendants 9should I say: poor attendant, gosh) of the restaurant.  Gosh , i WOULD NEVER have a job like that.  That guy has so much patience with teens. lol

They look so sweet....

and dangerous....

hahahaha

At the kitchen of the restaurant.  The hostess took our group to know the kitchen. Interesting.  I had never visited a restaurants kitchen before. She explained us how it worked and stuff.

Gosh. that is cheese.
mmmm

This was a moment that the teens had to stand up and go for a dance along with the hosts of the restaurant.
They are full of energy, think they can never stop talking and walking and laughing and screaming.  lol
Gosh.
I think when i have my children, i will be already tired of them, lol

Whatever next.

but, well, i cant resist:  I love to work with them teens!!;D
They are funny, after all.  And honest.  If they dont like something, they tell you so at ur face.  They never fake feelings towards things they dont like.  Adults are the contrary.  For the sake of "politics", and "social manners", we, adults, fake feelings and opinions, in order to "lead a better life".  But i do miss telling the truth 100% during my day by day.  It is terrible to smile at ppl u want to kill, lol  But, thats life.  Wish i could get back to teenager times and send ppl to hell when i like.  hehe

LEARN WITH THEM !!!!  - i tell myself.  :)

CONEXION PART II

Didnt finish uploading the pics last night as Chris came on-line and then we chatted and i went to bed with him (wink).

Anyway, I woke up at 11am and showered.  Soon, i am going to the flea market to see if they are having the tempurá stand in there and i will have lunch there.

Meanwhile, let me finish the uploading of pics in here.  Ah! By the way, im having a terrible menstrual pain in my belly.  Gosh, i woke up because it was hurting so much that the pain has waken me up.  I will have to go the pharmacist and buy some pain killers. Gosh, my belly looks all big and hard. It is hurting a lot.

This is the entrance of the dance floor.  Gosh, it looks very different, dont u think?  Those Cuban, mexicans, the ones who live near caribbean, they use to add many things to the walls of the restaurants, such as flags, mini posters, paintings, etc.  Here in Brazil we dont use to do that, except for Bahia.  That TV, i watched a bit of it and they have programs from Cuba (!!) and Latin America on. I think it might be a cable TV. But it is weird to have a TV in a dance place.lol  Anyway.  Lets not judge, just accept this different culture  :)

These are an argentinian couple: Hilda and José.  Hilda is one of the teachers i hired. She is a nice person.  I rememebr the first day i talked to her and asked her: "Hilda what do think about these old ways of planning a class?"  and she replied: " Yo creo que son todos una grande mierda!!!" (I think they are all bullshit!)  Hahahahaha.  I loved her!!! That is what I want: People who speak their minds!!

In this pic, she is dancing the salsa with her husband.  Gosh, they dance very well.  I think i could never dance the way they do!  I didnt know Argees knew how to dance caribbean music.

Hehe  This is Gian, a student, trying to learn from observing the competent couple, but it is sooooo difficult.

And, ok..   He just got his gf and tried to dance a weird mix of "Mr. Bean  and Austin Powers" dance, lol

I didnt dare to try it, lol  I shall have dozens of Caipirinhas to be able to dance it,lol

Well, thats it.

There are more pics, but about the group and stuff, Thought that these ones were the most relevant ones.

I think the students liked to know this place, as they are always in fancy restaurants and international ones, so, for a change, i think it was a good idea.

Bye for now.

:)

CONEXIÓN CARIBE  NIGHT

Friday, 16th, I went with students of Spanish language (now Chris will laugh) to a Cuban place called Conexión Caribe.
Well.  it is actually a dance school, where they teach the Salsa and Merengue dance, but it is also, late in the night a restaurant and bar.  Gosh, them cubans know how to have multiple usages for just a single place, lol Well, anyway, we left school at 21hs, and headed to the Cuban place, in the west zone of the city.  We rented a van to take us there and to bring us back.

When we arrived, the place was empty, and so we grabbed about 4 tables and we all had a sit. ( we were in 10 ppl).  I promptly got the menu and gosh, i was really willing to have a bite on some mexican food, lol

Although it was a cuban place, i had checked in the net their menu and was glad to know they served them TACOS in there.  Gosh, i just LOOOOOOOOOVE mexican food.  I could live on it.

Well, i had my TACO ready and eaten.  Then a very loud music was on.  The loudspeaker was just above our tables. Gosh.
But then, little by little, more ppl started to enter the place and soon we had a reasonable amount of ppl in there.  Well, let me tell u about the most important part of the night: the food  lol

Gosh, weird that 90% of the students - all adults, didnt know what TACOS were.  Gosh.  It is incredible how some ppl get trapped into their own little world and dont go outside from it and see that there are other things there, other cuisines, other cultures.

I ordered, and them them stayed looking at me, saying:  "Cris, I wont order the same as u until i find out what are they about."  I just replyed: ok, it is ur point. So wait and see... hehe

When the waiter (a Cuban little man) Came with my meal.....mmmmmmmm, they all looked at me and said: "Oh, what that green souce?" - "It is GUACAMOLE" ...   Some of them made such a face as tho as i was eating shit, lol

But, anyway, good to be able to help them, adults, wise, and kings of the rings, know a little about other cultures.  And as i always, always, always say: "If u want to know a culture of a particular group of people, get to know what they eat. "

I believe in this very much.  What is best there to get to know a group of ppl??  The food translates everything : history, sociology, beliefs, religion, all!!! And i do love Tacos, lol  Tacos, Tortillas, Burritos, Guacamole, Empanadas, mmmmmm  They are all superb!!!

This is a sily pic i took from a huge flag they keep in the wall, by the entrance of the bar.
I took more pics, just to show u how this place is.  It is incredible, u feel as if u were in a Cuban, very latin bar.  Not brazilian, our bars are different, gosh.

This is half of the group as the silly argee man who took this pic got most of the ppl cut off from the frame, lol  Look that thing over our heads!lol  An air conditioning thing. lol  Looks like it is going to fall down any minute. Can u see Che Guevara up there in the wall?? hehe

This is the cashier,lol
very interesting, dont u think?
Just one thing I dont like: The stupid flutes them ppl from Bolivia and Peru play.  Gosh, they keep playing it in all parts of sao paulo.  There is even a community called: "I hate Peruvian Flutes", lol  Can u see the flute hung in there?

Lesson on Portuguese language.

The History of Portuguese language is very much rich in details and i wont make from these posts a total compilation of the many books I have here at home, as all I want is to bring some knowledge about my native language as i think it sounds fair that u make some effort to communicate with me, just as much as i do to communicate with you.

Portuguese derives from Latin. This is a point to consider. But not a pure latin. The pure latin was only spoken in Rome. The romans spread out the latin, vulgar one to all europe territory, except for Basque Country.

They transformed the latin and also changed it a lot as they were making progresses in the occupation of new lands.

Portugal was the last territory to be taken over by the romans.

So, enough of theory (although it is very fantastic the story)
Lets go into practice.

It is a lot different when u learn a language and u are in another country, than it is when u are living in the country where the language ur learning is spoken.

As ur in a non-portuguese language country, we are going to learn the theory first. Little by little.

First thing to learn: " IT IS VERY MUCH DIFFERENT FROM ENGLISH AND AT THE SAME TIME IT IS VERY SIMILAR. THE SIMILARITIES ARE TRICKY, AND THE DIFFERENCES ARE TOUGH"

But... It is a beautiful language. Believe me. Very sweet to the ears. And men dont sound faggy when they spoke it (as french men do)

Lets not get tied in the pronunciation. It is for a second moment, not now.

Welll

There we go...

Are you nervous?

I am.

Hehe

Anyway...

The pronouns.

The personal pronous go the same as in english. Thank god we dont have those "formal and informal words for "you", as German, French and Russian have.

Look how simple!

Eu - I (u write in Capitals when starting a paragraph, if not, write it in low case)
Você – you

Ele – he

Ela – she

Nós – we

Vocês – you (plural)
Eles – they (male)

Elas - they (female)

A good point: There is no "IT" in portuguese. As it is a latin, classic language, all things have genres, female or male.

Second point.

The verb TO BE.

TO BE has 2 forms in portuguese (the same in italian and spanish – French has just one form, as in english and german. In russian, the verb TO BE doesnt exist. (you speak: " I Crissy" hehe, i like it,lol (but this is beacuse the language has declinations, just like in greek, but this is another story)

The first FORM of TO BE.

I am Crissy

You are my boyfriend.

He is my student.

She is Brazilian
They are engineers

This, sense, that the person IS something, you say :

Eu sou

Você é

Ele é

Ela é

Nós somos

Vocês são

Eles são

Elas são.

Phew...

So, there you go....

Lets make some sentences:

I am a girl

You are my love

She is my student

He is a civil servant

They are employees.

I give you the end of the sentence (the object) and you give me the subject and verb, ok?

A girl = uma menina

My love = meu amor

My student = minha aluna

A civil servant = um funcionário público

Employees = empregados

So??

How do u make them?

Hehehe

Second form: TO BE, with the meaning:

I am at home

You are in the restaurant

He is at work

They are in the school.

So...

Lets make more sentences:

At home = em casa

In the restaurant = no restaurante

At work = no trabalho

In the school = na escola

Very good!!!!!!!!!

Now, look at this text:

Lets see if you can find the pronouns and the verbs TO BE, ok?
Just point them out, dont worry about the other words, ok?

How many did u find?

6 pronous.... and

2 verbs? YEAh!!

Just knowing the persons of the discurse (I, you, he she...) and the 2 forms of the verb TO BE is enough as a first goal.

Very well done!!

Now...

You can understand, when i say, IN MY LANGUAGE:

EU AMO VOCÊ !!!
